You could assume that the Midianites were descendants of Abraham/Keturah by the name, but by this time in history there were millions of people. You would then have to assume that every one had a different first name .. only first names are given.
Being a descendant of Abraham does not make any tribe Israelites or friends of the Israelites. Both the Midianites and Edomites were the enemies of the Israelites and fought against them.
01~GENESIS 025004` And the sons of Midian; Ephah, and Epher, and Hanoch, and Abida, and Eldaah. All these were the children of Keturah.

Is this Midian the son of Keturah? This event took place in Moab/Jordan which is not in the land of Midia.

This is a little abstract.. The Midianites passed by but Joseph was sold to the Ishmeelites (Jishmaelite or descendant of Jishmael)
Ishmelites vs Ishmaelites .. Jishmael is the name of Abraham's oldest son so I guess these were Ishmaelites.

The priest of Midian (Jethro) was a goyim
. The word goyim does not identify what one is.
The word goyim identifies what one is not. Goyim = NOT a descendant of Israel.
While the daughters of Jethro were drawing water some other herdsmen came and tried to take the water. Moses appears to have gotten in a fight with the herdsmen and when the Midianite girls got home, they told their father.
Exodus 2:19 And they said, An Egyptian delivered us out of the hand of the shepherds, and also drew water enough for us, and watered the flock.
Of course by nationality Moses was indeed an Egyptian and by birth he would have had one or more Egyptian grandmother. When the Israelite grandchildren of Jacob entered Egypt, there were 53 grandchildren, 52 of them were males, so unless 52 males produced their descendant with one Israelite cousin, of course the Israelites began with Egyptian grandmothers.
As for the ONLY grand daughter, her mother was no Israelite. She (like Ishmael) was the daughter of a servant girl.

The first wife of Moses was a Midianite (ancient Saudi Arabian) and Moses second wife was a Cushite = the nation that began in southern Egypt and extended into modern day Sudan.
Jethro NON Israelite was a priest of God who gave Moses advice on how to judge the Israelites.
While tending the flocks of his father in law (Jethro) Moses encountered God at the burning bush in Mt. Horeb -- Mt. Horeb = Mt Sinia?

While Moses was a descendant of Egyptians and other non Israelites, his two sons were descendants of Midianites (ancient Saudi Arabians).

Here a Midianite got the invitation to go to the promise land with Moses and the gang.

Could this woman have been murdered because she worshipped idols or was she killed because non Israelites were not allowed in the congregation?
If one was not allowed in the congregation for idol worship, I guess Aaron would not be allowed, you know the guy who made the golden calf.

8. And he went after the man of Israel into the tent, and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman through her belly. So the plague was stayed from the children of Israel.

If Midianites were grandchildren of Abraham and Keturah, being a descendant of Abraham did not make one an Israelite. Here the Israelites were commanded to wipe them out.

Moses commanded the Israelites not to keep the live stock and other goodies. When he found out they did, there was a big conflict.

What was the command on the subject of women when fighting enemies?

Before the Israelites entered into Egypt all mothers were NON Israelites they were composed of Syrians/Armenians, Cannanite and Egyptian mothers.
On their way to the promise land, they added another batch of non Israelite women (Midianites/Ancient Saudis) to create the clans of the Israelites.
As for all the baby males, little boys, married sisters, fathers, mothers of the 32,000 kidnaped Midinate girls they were all murdered.

17. Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him.
18. But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.
